| We have often been asked, "What
is a blue-eyed bear?" Our business name was actually inspired
by a Zuni fetish carved from a deep-blue piece of azurite. The
fetish and our ongoing interest in Native American legends and
myths led to the name.
Blue-Eyed Bear began in 1987 when Linda and Bud Johnson opened their first store in Uptown Sedona. The second location was opened at Hillside Sedona in 1997. We have recently closed our Hillside location and consolidated our inventory to our Uptown Store and continue to offer elegant Native American jewelry and art that are of exceptional quality but well in the affordable price range.
We feature contemporary jewelry by award-winning Navajo artists
including Robert Taylor, Alvin
Yellowhorse, Jimmie King, Jr.,
as well as work by Southwest artists Don Lucas and Benny
and Valerie Aldrich; Navajo folk art; Zuni fetishes and
Pendleton blankets.
At Blue-Eyed Bear, we carry art that's traditionally inspired
but with a contemporary flair. We're very true to our store slogan: "Dedication
to tradition with an eye on the future."
